Acne Rosacea and H.pylori

A higher prevalence of Heliobacter pylori infection has been reported in rosacea patients compared to healthy controls. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of H.pylori eradication therapy in patients with rosacea.

Patients with H.pylori infection were treated with amoxicillin, metrondiazole and bismuth subcitrate. The severity of their rosacea was scored both before and after this treatment. The patients demonstrated a significant decrease in the severity of their rosacea at the end of the treatment.

The authors concluded that the findings suggest that H.pylori may be involved in rosacea and that eradication treatment may be beneficial.
