Haemorrhoids is the medical name for enlarged veins in the ano-rectal canal -the terminal part of the bowel. Also known as piles, these veins may bring discomfort or severe pain, and may bleed on evacuating the bowel.
They may be caused by pressure on the anal area, brought about by constipation, excessive straining at stool, or by the over-use of laxatives. Sometimes there is a lack of natural oil in the intestinal system. They may also occur during pregnancy, when the developing foetus crowds against the internal organs, and in people who sit a lot.
Although piles are often caused through poor diet resulting in constipation and lack of muscle tone in the lower large bowel, they may also occur from lack of specific elements of nutrition, - for example Calcium Fluoride (the Biochemic Cell Salt - this is not the same as Sodium Fluoride which is poisonous) may be in short supply and therefore the body tissues lack elasticity).
Note If you have Sodium Fluoride in your system, this toxin will constrict muscle movement and tighten veins.
The first step is to check the diet and exclude all white flour, sugar, coffee and alcohol. Include more bulk-forming dietary foods such as bran (oatbran is very good), Psyllium hulls (also for bulk), vegetables, and fruit. Always eat white pith of citrus fruits - it is rich in bioflavonoids, which are excellent for this condition, and also it mingles with the juice and makes for a more bulky and natural food intake than drinking juice alone.
Other Helps
the Biochemic Tissue salt No1 Calc Fluor to return elasticity to the tissues.
One of the best herbs for this condition is Hawthorn - either as the herb, or as the homeopathic Aesculus. Other good herbs are Ginger and Marshmallow, and if the veins are bleeding, White Oak Bark or Butchers Broom.
Slippery Elm powder - the acid neutraliser - is also excellent to soften the bowel and heal the membrane tissue.
Chlorophyll is excellent for alkalinising and cleaning the bowel and blood. One of the best ways to get this is by taking the green algae Chlorella. As well as supplying a raft of nutrients, Chlorella acts as a gentle bowel cleanse. See below and Bowel Cleanse .

The homeopathic Nux Vomica brings back the normal peristalsis of the bowel, making elimination easier.
If there is a burning sensation, take the homeopathic Sulphur.

As a preventative, take 1tsp of cold pressed oil daily, to lubricate the intestinal system.
